1 Thessalonians 5:17 instructs us to “Pray without ceasing”. The word ceasing in the Greek is intermission. So the word of God is instructing us to pray without intermission, pausing or taking a break. God expects us to communicate with him at all times. You might ask, “How can I pray all the time when I have things to do?” The answer is simple, train yourself to walk and talk. No matter what arena you find yourself in you can be in a constant state of prayer. Although the most sacred place of prayer is on your knees alone before God; your prayer life can be just as effective when you are driving in your car or brushing your teeth.
The key to an effective prayer life is focusing on God while engaging your heart and connecting your mouth. Praying out of the abundance of your heart and allowing your mouth to speak out those things deep within produces effective, powerful prayer.
